The development of the MADSEN Astera has been a joint effort between strong research and development teams in the United States and in Denmark. We spent a significant amount of time to bring as much of your input as a user into defining the new solution. We learned that a large proportion of audiologists still prefer to work with a stand-alone audiometer, whereas another large part prefer to use a PC-based audiometer and all the additional possibilities this gives. So why not let you decide for yourself what is preferred and most appropriate for your particular clinical test? This approach has been a guiding principle throughout the entire development process. We believe that good design is very much about the practical aspect – the system has to adjust to your need and way of working. For example, the Astera can be customized by individual users. This feature quickly lets you define your own favorite test settings and sequences without the need to reset the unit each time it is used. And because the unit combines traditional stand-alone audiometers with the newer PC-based software, it can operate through the familiar user interface of the Audiometer Control Panel or the PC keyboard or mouse.
